Book of the Month

For July's Book of the Month, I chose "When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times" by Pema Chödrön. I came across this book toward the end of last year and couldn't put it down.

Instead of treating life's challenges as obstacles to overcome, this book invites us to approach them with curiosity and acceptance. Pema Chödrön shares how meeting pain with openness can transform the way we relate to ourselves, others, and the inevitable ups and downs of life. Through her teachings, she offers guidance on how to navigate difficult moments with compassion, mindfulness, and a willingness to stay present with whatever arises.

I'm excited to revisit this book with all of you this month, and I hope it offers you the same comfort, perspective, and encouragement it gave me.

Key Takeaways:

- "Everything that occurs is not only usable and workable but is actually the path itself.  We can use everything that happens to us as the means for waking up." pg. 122

- "This is our choice in every moment. Do we relate to our circumstances with bitterness or with openess?" pg. 146

- "We never know if we're going to fall flat or sit up tall. When there's a big disappointment, we don't know if that's the end of the story. It may be just the beginning of a great adventure." pg. 10
